About

A BESPOKE AND CONTEMPORARY KNITWEAR BRAND

The brand was born in 2014 upon my return to Argentina, embodying my Franco-Argentine culture. My first question was: what local resources could shape a truly Argentine brand?
Research led me to discover Argentina’s role as a leading exporter of merino wool and natural fibers. From the beginning, my goal was to create eco-friendly products with a contemporary design. At MAYDI, we don’t hold stock; each piece is handmade from start to finish using local raw materials. We showcase our garments to the world, highlighting their value and honoring traditional craftsmanship.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible artisans. At MAYDI, quality is paramount, with meticulous attention to every detail in the creation process.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

My name is María Abdala Zolezzi, and my nickname is Maydi.
I am a self-taught fashion designer, and I am the founder of MAYDI.

MAYDI has been my nickname since childhood, derived from a fictional character in a children’s story. Even then, fashion was my passion, and I designed and created dresses for my dolls. I studied Advertising in Buenos Aires, and, in 2001, I took a course in Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion.

I have worked in the fashion industry in Paris for over twelve years, starting with Kuki de Salvertes’s prestigious press agency “Totem”, which launched renowned designers such as Raf Simons, Haider Ackermann, and many from the Royal Art Academy in Antwerp. I also worked with Showroom Robert Dodd, Sonia Rykiel, Isabel Marant, and my last experience in Paris was with PLC Consulting for the Fédération Française de la Couture, for the launch of the Designers Apartment Showroom.
